Hello Bad A$$!

Meet my friends — Practical AND Frugal!

Very pleased with myself today. (No, this is NOT a common occurence, peeps.) Been meaning to buy rain boots. Had a pair about 5 years ago but the calf area was too tight (story of my life – damn wrestler legs)…think I gave them to Ashlee or Vicki?? Anyway, today’s torrential downpour here in DC reminded me, “Hey, buy some damn rain boots!”

South Moon Under had a cute pair last year…sort of motorcycle boot styling but in a rain boot!  Perfect!  Of course, I didn’t buy them and today I want them!  *sighs*

Went to DSW and found them!!  Yeah me!

These are by Dirty Laundry - liking that name!

How cute?!?!?!  (note the adjustable calf!)  Anyway, they were $49 and I had a coupon for $20 off!!  See, these boots are practical AND frugal!  And slightly bad ass if I do say so myself!

Progress on 12’s Skin!

Boy, am I enjoying this! I love gross things…poop, snot, pimple popping…sign me UP!

I blogged about the condition of 12’s nose after our summer vacation…blackheads so large they looked like grains of sand under the skin! *shudders* Tried the usual scrubs and extra cleansing to no avail. Decided to break out the big guns – Biore Stripped him! lol (bless his grouchy little heart – he seems to enjoy all of this…special Mommy and Son time? lol) Still not enough though…the Biore Strip got a little bit out but not the big bad ones.  (btw, do you love or do you LOVE Biore Strips?! I love seeing all the ick from my pores on those little white nose strips. The Frug and I call them “trees” b/c they look like little trees made of solid oil! eeeuuuuwwww!)

So, what to do??? I had a 20% off coupon for Sephora…went browsing online…found a new Wonder Product! Dr. Brandt Pores No More  Vacuum Cleaner (yes, 9 would love this product too – vacuum!)

What it is formulated to do:
Dr. Brandt pores no more® vacuum cleaner™ helps loosen blackheads by absorbing dirt and excess oil. The complexion is left smooth, clear, and refined.

Sounded gimmicky to me…AND where is the vacuum??? It’s just a mask that you put on the nose (or wherever) and rinse off. Well, one of the reviewers on Sephora (who sounded like a complete product junkie – LOVE!) shared her whole procedure…first wash…apply the Dr. Brandt Pores No More…rinse off…apply Biore Strip…and then…use the blackhead remover tool!

I’ve only recently become able to use this scary looking tool…but it WORKS like nothing else. So, poor 12…I did all 3 of the steps (wash, mask, Biore Strip)…then I asked him if I could use the tool on him. YES! Well, let me tell you…so much crap came out of that nose!  Exciting times! Even he was like “Hey, let me see that!” So, after torturing him (little tears in the corners of his eyes!), I used some Sea Breeze to disinfect and close the pores.

I think I missed my calling! 😉

Here are some disgusting videos. (Jen, you enjoyed these, right?! *cackles*) Lost at least 30 minutes of my life yesterday watching this stuff (never Google “blackhead remover” and go to the You Tube results!)

One Highlight from Last Week

Got to have lunch with “Debbie”! (btw, don’t forget I just suffered thru enjoyed 2 weeks of “Mommy and 9 time” so I’ve been like a caged animal. A caged animal who has been talked to death.) We have had it on the calendar for a month now. How sad is that?? For a simple lunch!  Geez. Anyway, it’s always nice to have plans that force me to actually shower and put non-workout clothes on!

So, I shower and get dressed…don’t dry my hair b/c I like to air dry it when it’s not Date Night…b/c who cares about my hair being straightened, right? Hmph. Running late as always…pop my head into the Frug’s office…

Me: Hey, I’m off to meet Debbie for lunch!

The Frug: *laughing* Like that? *incredulous look on face*

Me: *baleful glare*

The Frug: Well, your hair is wet and you have that weird top on.

Me: *death rays* *stomp out of house*

*growls*  Men!!! I air dry my hair and then do a low ponytail. Perfectly acceptable for a casual lunch, dammit.  And my “weird top”?? A super cute slate blue cardigan from Banana Republic with a little ruffley type thing down the front (made it dressier, kwim?!) (I didn’t wear a belt tho)

Well, at least it gave me a ‘starter topic’ for lunch! You know like “OMFG! You will NOT believe what the Frug just said to me!!” Anyway, it was just great to be around one of my old besties. It feels like I have LDRs* with all of my special friends. Having a bday dinner with the Tinas seems to take an Act of Congress to schedule. A simple lunch? At least a month’s notice required. Makes me sad and mad. *sighs*

Tell me it’s like this for everyone…please?

Hola Superficialistas!

Where the heck have I been? No real blogging recently. Have been nursing a bit of a cold (low grade ick for at least 10 days now) AND dealing with the joy of new bedroom furniture. That should be a good thing, right? It’s been 13 years of marriage and we have FINALLY gotten real (non-IKEA) furniture! Guess the Frug wanted to make sure it’s gonna work out lol!  And, we now have an actual BED with a headboard and everything! Like grownups!

However effing comma, this meant that we have had to get rid of our old stuff (Le Frug sold it on Craigslist – the man is a machine w/Craigslist – I think he should have an ‘I’ll sell your crap on Craigslist for you’ business on the side!) So, all drawers had to be emptied…(“Hey Cow, this would be a great time to weed out some of your old clothes – I’ll get you a box to fill up for Goodwill!”)…all of the clothes ended up in a couple large boxes…(and guess what? some are still there!) The delivery of the new furniture was super fun b/c the Black Beast really enjoys delivery guys! He “talks” to them and has to be dragged out of the house (by me) and walked (by me) for the duration of the delivery. *sighs*

Long story long…I am still reorganizing my crap. You know how I loooooove reorgs. *rolls eyes* The Frug was all happy and perky, all items neatly refolded into the drawers…spraying Lemon Pledge and dusting the new dressers…hanging up pictures…meanwhile I was (and am still) exhausted by even the thought of all of it. A week later, the hallway has 2 huge boxes waiting to be emptied. Where is my staff?! Where are my minions?!

Gosh, even typing this out is making me want a nap. Blah.
